Volume Rates Rise, Surfers Seek Google

Nielsen/NetRatings reports that U.S. search volume has increased 39 percent in January 2006 in comparison to statistics one-year prior. This report negates a recent comScore statement declaring that growth was a mere 11 percent.

Furthermore Neilsen/NetRatings reports total number of searches conducted in January 2006 at 5.7 billion (comScore reported 5.5 billion).

January’s numbers are the highest measurements on record and Ken Cassar, chief analyst at Neilsen/NetRatings, accredits the escalating numbers to the growing trend of online searching in everyday lives.

In relation to the current Neilsen/NetRating numbers Google and Yahoo! saw a one percent share increase, borrowing (perhaps) from MSN, whose share dwindled two percent.
