And The Numbers Say…
Web users are flocking to find a community of their own—an online community, reports Nielsen//NetRatings. April 2006’s top 10 social networking sites that include MySpace, Blogger, and YouTube have grown 47 percent collectively. The swelling numbers are representative of current trends relative to reality TV and need for quick real-time communications between individuals.
Last years unique audiences reach a healthy 46.8 million, while this years reached a staggering 68.8 million unique audiences. Today social network sites reach 45 percent of active Web users and those numbers do not seem to be declining any time soon.
A reason for the continued growth is one of consumer interest in increasingly updated user generated content. The pace at which users update their message boards, viral videos and blogs, the more Web users are likely to keep a peaked interest in what is being published.
