The Cookies Crumble No More

Internet users are less-likely to delete cookies, according to a new study reported on Clickz. The report states that a mere eight percent of consumers “very frequently” delete cookies. In accordance, a new Ponemon Institute study reports that 24 percent of respondents never delete cookies which is up from 11 percent in the previous study.

This news is good for online marketers in regards to the assumption that respondents seem to be less-concerned about the use of cookies. The survey’s content was directed toward relevant online advertising with the following results further substantiating Internet users lack of concern of use of cookies:
  • 63 percent encourage advertisers to “always” grasp their interests before advertising to them
  • 55 percent said Web advertising that’s suited to their interests “improves” or “greatly” improves their overall online experience
  • 86 percent said they are more likely to accept relevant advertising than pay for content
